And Gruber?
Fittingly, John Gruber has posted the most eloquent piece regarding yesterday’s news that Steve Jobs is resigning as CEO of Apple. You can just feel the years of admiration and emotion coming through in John’s typed and published words:
Today’s announcement is just one more step, albeit a big and sad one, in a long-planned orderly transition — a transition that no one wanted but which could not, alas, be avoided. And as ever, he’s doing it his way.
So it goes.
And so I’m nervously half-anticipating the announcement today that Gruber will resign as lead writer in the Mac space, a space which he has taken citizen level journalism to new heights. He’s covered Apple and the workings of Steve Jobs through their meteoric rise from near bankruptcy to being the most profitable company on the planet. And he’s done it better than anyone else. It seems almost fitting that he would stop when Steve stops.
That would be John doing it John’s way.
