Sitting and Standing

Everyone you read has linked to this today (at least, everyone I read), but I still want to comment. I worry that someone would say that this means all the recent hoopla about standing being better than sitting is false. I would disagree, both from a logical standpoint, but also from experience. I know the difference between how I feel after a day of working while standing and working while sitting. There is no comparison — standing is better for my body.

To me, this is one of those ‘scientific’ studies where the results confirm what good ol’ fashioned common sense already knew. Doing anything for hours on end isn’t healthy. Variety, change and multiple activities make for a better work day. Personally, I do pushups and sit-ups through the day when I need a break. Or pour myself another beverage.
